Wow, I'm becoming a sports buff!

I have never been a sports guy. I like baseball. I like basketball - but you will never see me participate. If ever I get an interest in playing any type of sport, I would probably choose soccer.
Now that David Beckham is in California - I hope the craze catches on here in the U.S. Why do I say that? When have you ever seen us huddled in a bar to watch soccer let alone own soccer goals and have them in the backyard. In Asia and Europe, soccer is big! It would be nice to get some interest in this country for a sport that I have always wanted to play.

Why? I have watched a game while I was in Italy back in 1999. You can feel the excitement, the competition. I have never been excited like that in my life! Maybe it was the 'grapa' but hey, who's watching. ;) After that, I try to catch a glimpse of the game once in a while and let me tell you - it is exciting as it looks. Of course, there - they call it football.

It gets better during the World Cup! Oh wow! According to Wikipedia: "The FIFA World Cup, sometimes called the Football World Cup or the Soccer World Cup, but usually referred to simply as the World Cup, is an international football competition contested by the men's national football teams of the member nations of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every four years since the first tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946, due to World War II.

The tournament's final phase, often called the World Cup Finals, is the most widely-viewed sporting event in the world, with an estimated 715.1 million people watching the 2006 tournament final. The current format of the Finals involves thirty-two national teams competing at venues within the host nation (or nations) over a period of about a month. To determine the participating teams, qualifying rounds take place over the three years preceding the Finals."

That is way awesome and I think I will start to get people to play. Get down and dirty! ;)
